Delete your Hairpin account

Hairpin is the app for driving with your crew: live map, hazard alerts, walkie-talkie comms, music and 3D cars. This page deletes your Hairpin account and the data tied to it. You do not need the app installed.

In the app

Open Hairpin, go to Settings > Account > Delete account, and follow the steps. It takes under a minute.

Without the app

Enter the email address on your Hairpin account. We will email you a 6-digit code.

If you signed up with Apple or Google and your account has no real email address on file, use the in-app option above. If you used Sign in with Apple you can also remove Hairpin under Settings > your name > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple.

What gets deleted

Your account: email, name, password, car details, Apple / Google sign-in links, push-notification token, last known position.
Your trips and speed records, your club memberships, admin roles, join requests, event RSVPs and your block list.
Your 3D car scans: the photos you took, the 3D model and previews, and your scan credits.
The voice messages you sent on the walkie-talkie, and private conversations with one other person.
Diagnostic logs filed under your name.

What is handed over or kept, and for how long

Clubs you own pass to the longest-standing co-admin or member, and the new owner is told. A club with nobody else in it is deleted. Meets you hosted in a club pass to the club's owner; meets nobody else was coming to are deleted.
Hazard reports you made (police, accident, road, traffic) stay on the map until they expire, a few hours, with your name and any link to you removed. They are crew-safety information.
Reports about abuse you filed, or that were filed about you, are kept for up to 12 months to keep the community safe. Your name and the reported text are removed from them.
Service logs and backups at our hosting, database and email providers can hold technical records for those providers' own retention periods. We do not use them to rebuild your account.
3D scan processing: your car photos were sent to our 3D-model provider to build your car; that provider keeps them under its own retention policy.

How long it takes

Your account stops working the moment you confirm. The rest of the data is removed within minutes; if one of our providers is down we keep retrying automatically.
